Celebrating 10 Years... May 8, 1998 - May 8, 2008
| S-CARS.ORG was established on May 8th, 1998 with a simple goal in mind: to provide a resource for enthusiasts of Audi's S and RS series cars from around the world. A lot has changed over the years in terms of our web site and scope and the new year will see further changes.
I realize not much has been happening on the S-CARS site in a while but there is a good reason for that. With 2008 being the 10th year for us, I have been busy creating an all new site from the ground up.
I don't have a target launch date just yet but I have been selecting a group of people to help Beta test the new site. If you'd like to be considered as a Beta tester drop me a PM. If you're an experienced Joomla content management developer and might want to help out with the build PM me as well.
For those of you into the technical aspects, we'll be changing from a PostNuke based CMS to a new Joomla based CMS. It should prove to be a substantial upgrade and simplify the content management and addition process for both editors and users.
At the moment most of the core components are installed and running on the new site although I have lots of testing a tweaking to do before it goes live to the public. I've got a lot of content relocation and reformatting to do and expect that may take a while unless I get some help.
Your participation helps make S-CARS the resource that it is, so make a resolution to help us and owners everywhere by sharing your knowledge and abilities. Site division editor positions are still open for those of you dedicated to a particular model. For details, contact Darin via email at... editor @ this domain.

It is hard to believe, but ten years ago on May 8th, 1998 this web site was first launched. In'S'anity? Perhaps, but the site lives on a decade later.
Speaking of insanity, I've been working hard on an all new S-CARS.ORG web site as a way to celebrate our first ten years and to launch the next ten. I have a few issues to sort out with the new site and then I will be able to start moving all of the content from the current site over to the new one. A daunting task for sure, but it must be done. My dream of being able to launch the all new site on the tenth anniversary date turned out to be just that... a dream. Have no fear though, work goes on and I'll unveil the new site as soon as I am able.
Thank you to all of you who have contributed FAQ content, donations, photos, and even emails over the last ten years. Audi S and RS series enthusiasts are an awfully friendly bunch of people but I'm sure that you, the reader, already know that!
Darin Nederhoff Founder & Editor
P.S. - 15% of all S-CARS.ORG donations during the month of May will be given to S-CARS Member, Lee Levitt towards his ride in the 2008 Pan-Mass Challenge. You can also support Lee directly here.

Audi Tradition celebrates 25 years of Sport quattro
Audi Sport quattro Group B rally car and five series-production Sport quattros at the Techno Classica in Essen. Starting signal for future Audi Tradition limited edition model car of the year.
The Audi Sport quattro has just turned 25 years of age. In 1983, the "Shorty", as it was affectionately known, caused a sensation as the most powerful series-produced German car. It is thus logical that Audi Tradition will be represented at the 20th Techno Classica in Essen, Germany (from 26 to 30 March 2008) with the motto "25 years of Audi Sport quattro". The five featured series-production vehicles will not be the only highlights on the Audi stand in Hall Seven. As a special feature, Audi Tradition will be presenting the latest addition to its own historic collection: the Audi Sport quattro Group B rally car. There are only five remaining examples of this race car worldwide. New from this year: Audi Tradition will now be offering a strictly limited edition (333 units) 1:43-scale model car of the year, the first of which can be purchased at the Techno Classica. In 2008 this is an Audi Sport quattro in orange.

Update from Corey Kirzinger regarding the project...
We ARE going to be going through with the group buy on the CF hoods AND trunk lids! I just had a lengthy conversation with Albert at Fiber Images who filled me in on a bunch of the details. First off, let me announce the official pricing we're getting from them: The 13 pound hoods will only cost us $600 and the 8 pound trunk lids will only cost us $525!! Much less than some of the numbers that we had been hearing earlier. Additonal Info: He also informed me that both the hoods and trunk lids WILL be able to use the stock latches, so NO hood pins will be necessary! Although our stock hood struts will be too powerful, he has offered to reinforce the area surrounding where stock hood struts attach and integrate a mount so that we can use aftermarket struts (be it a NAPA special, etc). The hoods and trunk lids will have a fiberglass frame inside, with a carbon fiber frame being optional at $150. The trunk lids will be able to be reinforced for free for those that wish to mount a spoiler on them. In regards to shipping: All shipping will be conducted through a freight company. In this case it is most likely that they will be shipped fully insured through Yellow Freight. The estimated cost to the East Coast is in the neighborhood of $200 +/- and will be arranged through Fiber Images.
What we need to do to move forward: I will be compiling a spreadsheet containing everyone's contact information, so if you're seriously interested, please send an email to c_kirzinger@hotmail.com with the following information: FULL NAME SHIPPING ADDRESS PHONE NUMBER ***The full amount isn't required up front, but they are requesting a 50% deposit will be needed by all members of the group buy within the next week or two.*** This will be payable by credit card over the phone. If this is a problem for anyone, please email me off list. The aforementioned prices will *ONLY* be available to members of this group buy, so if your name, address and phone number do not make it onto that list, you will most likely be left paying $700+. If you want a hood or trunk lid, make 100% sure you get me this information as soon as possible and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to email them to me! If anyone is willing to contribute towards the pre-production costs, please email me off list or shoot a quick PayPal to c_kirzinger@hotmail.com. Thanks in advance to anyone else who decides to donate! Corey Kirzinger Edmonton, AB, Canada

The 2007 Northeast S-Fest is now history, but the photos and event reviews are just starting to come in. We'll hopefully have a full event recap from one of the lucky attendees before too long.
In the meantime, we invite you to view some of the photos from the event. Please check back often as we'll undoubtedly have more images being uploaded soon. View the galleries here....

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Audi will be the official automotive sponsor of Art Chicago, America’s longest-running international modern and contemporary art fair. During Art Chicago, Audi will introduce the Audi RS 4 Art car created by Brazilian-born Pop artist Romero Britto.
Involvement in contemporary art and design has long been a component of Audi’s corporate culture – partnering with some of the world’s most renown shows – among them Design Miami/ 2006, the Armory Show 2007 in New York and latest Art Chicago. “Being involved in cutting-edge art events is a natural fit for Audi as a progressive premium brand” says Johan de Nysschen, Executive Vice President in charge of Audi of America. “Art Chicago is another opportunity for us to demonstrate our commitment to design by exhibiting the RS 4 Art Car which is a piece of art on its own.”

There are cars and dream cars. The latter includes Lamborghini’s Gallardo, Ferrari’s F430 or Porsche’s 911 Turbo. These cars make your heart beat faster and show the perfected magic of speed on the roads. Abt Sportsline’s R8 will also be among these outstanding super sports cars and is getting ready to overtake them in the prestige duel.
